Webeme - 16-11-2019 at 07:24 PM

I'll start, Set up on Sunday and after 6 days of checks I have 1 coon and 5 coyotes

None haven't set any yet. Good job on the yotes. So you set one trap and have caught an animal every day! Thats a great location.
Keep up the good work.

This is the neighbor boys fur. Been helping him the last couple of years to learn how to trap. He's getting better at his fur handling. The coon he just put up has come a long way.
I'm hoping to get out eventually. Been having some foot issues this year and finally getting around with very little pain. Might just have to stay on dry ground this year if and when i heal up a little bit more. Hoping to post some more pictures later.

My good fortune died off. Only picked up 3 more coyote last week and a couple coons. I finally decided this weekend to start setting some coon and water sets.

Webeme - 26-11-2019 at 02:22 AM

Just realized what you were asking Mark. No I had 10 sets on that line so I went 50%.

Mark - 26-11-2019 at 10:53 AM

LOL! I wanted you to look good!
I still havent set yet. I went to check the cows sunday and there was a yote licking himself and then last night the coyotes were howling in the pasture and down the stream in the other cattle pasture. So now that the kids are on break i can get started. Plus my trapping partner Halfton can come over and ride along on saturdays to see the misses and snapped traps!!!

Do you move your traps or keep them out all season for coyotes at the same spots?
Here at home i leave the traps all season. Its suprising how some traps catch every week and others just once during the season. Some never catch.

Nice job Web. Russ, I hope ya get that foot healed up and Mark, go get em. Ack, you are a machine. Nice job.

Doc told me to start getting active last appointment. Get my strength and stamina back. Been harder than I thought.

I did set up 1 farm. 10 sets at 5 locations. Have had great weather. In 9 checks I've managed 6 yotes, a dozen coon and 1 fox.

Caught 1 really pale yote. She's a pretty one.

Let me know when Mark. At least this time people will know why there are only pics of you down over the bank and none of me

Glad to hear you're out and about Dan. That's a nice looking yote. Keep them pictures coming.

Just got my license so will be setting some this weekend. Looking for a pair of size 15 hip boots. Figure I can wear the size 15 on the left foot and use my size 13 on the right foot.

The neighbors boy did pick up another coon yesterday. Ended up skinning it for him this evening. Makes 2 coon and 3 rats for him so far.

That is a good looking coyote! Sounds like a pretty good success ratio to me, keep after them.

coonskinner - 29-11-2019 at 02:13 AM

Keith, I'm real happy with the success but most are colored like this.

Do you move your traps or keep them out all season for coyotes at the same spots?
Here at home i leave the traps all season. Its suprising how some traps catch every week and others just once during the season. Some never catch.

Actually Mark I move my traps about every 7 days to a new location. I try to start setting the new spot over a two day period while pulling from the old one at the same time. Most of my catches are in the first 3 nights. Later in the season I swing back to the better spots to pick up a few more while trapping the beaver.

Yesterday I finished pulling my traps from two farms and started a new one putting out 7 sets. Had a small female this morning and a few more sets out before work. Plan on finishing it tomorrow and start putting out some water set then have all the traps pulled by Saturday.

My approach is to hit all the farms for a week and shoot for 3 to 4 yotes per farm on the first pass then go back while beaver trapping to pick up a couple more. The goal is to end up in the 50 to 60 range in foot holds.
