Turtle week '10

got a good set of traps out today but we still have 13 or so to set tomorrow. We already got a 32 pounder while setting. I saw him packing a muskrat acrossed the swamp and Jack bailed out of the canoe and grabbed him before he swam off. Now it is time for bed. Ive been up since noon yesterday and he has been up since last night. Ealry morning checks, here we come! I should have pictures soon.

Caught 22 keepers and 31 total today. Out of the 22 only 5 were under 20 pounds. We got 10 more traps out for a total of 27 so we have some high hopes for tomorrow.

I put a cell phone pic on my facebook page. Im going to get a good pic of our total catch later this wek with the good camera. We only got 15 keepers today. We expected that on a second day soak. We moved some and set some fresh to try to get our 20 a day average by the end of the week.

On facebook, it is bigger. I took it with my phone and sent it directly to facebook from there and it came out a normal size picture. I saved it to my computer by left clicking it from facebook. Then I uploaded it to photobucket and now it is too small. I tried to resize it through photobucket, but this is all the bigger it will let me.

How do you keep them from fighting? Every time I put turtles to gether out of water. They would go after each other. You would have one BIG fight. If I put them in a water tank. They would be OK.

on your homepage for photobucket in the "upload images and videos" tab click on "more options". a window should appear that allows you to change the default settings for automatic upload resizing. i keep mine on " 15" screen (800x600) ".

They only fight for a little bit Frank, usually it's the 12 pounders attacking the 30 pounders.................... turtles were never accused of being very bright.

Well, ended up with less than we usually do, but we had probably the largest average of weight. We lost one whole day to a fuel pump going out in the truck. That prevented us from moving a string of sets to places that we wanted to. But im still happy with the totals for the last few days. 52 keepers (12 pounds and up) and 40 throw backs. I didnt keep track of the softshells, but they were all thrown back as well.

They all get butchered. We eat what we want and the rest gets sold.

nope, the 'yota ran fine. The fuel pump was for a '98 Chevy Z71. I did find out that if you put 500 pounds of turtle in the back of a little Toyota, make sure they are piled up close to the cab. If not, you might have some trouble keeping your front end on the road.:D
