Paint the walls and ceiling white before putting anything inside. Then have plenty of lights and outlets.

Then have an island girl to bring you your beverages when needed. :)

Wait a minute....How old are you? If you're younger than 21 disregard the last statement about the island girl.

I was thinking a full sized fridge maybe to double the amount of both lure and beer. I know the latter one makes the skinning and fleshing go by faster.

gas furnace , i'm getting tired of getting wood to feed the stove even though its free.

i would miss it though when it was time to get rid of coon fat , toss it in and let the stove roar !

running water would be nice . even cold.

more lights .

a couple of extra skinners/fleshers would be great . no body around to help though.

i guess i shouldn't have killed off all the few other local trappers during the fur boom !

got the beer fridge covered ( and stocked ) . 6 deep freezers .

skinning machine is going to have to come real soon. got a 14ft. high point waiting for it to be anchored at. i'm over 52 , i need to quit hurting myself just to have fun. i manage to do that enough anymore setting and checking traps , don't need to while putting up fur.

need a new sound system , the 35 year old radio in there needs replaced , so does the black and white tv thats as old as me . still gets pretty good reception with rabbit ears on 3 channels.

floor drain would be great .

intercom into the house would be nice.

more room , my 2 car garage is too small even with a full attic for storage .
one of these days , all those traps up there will exceed the weight limit of the rafters .

if your building one, whatever size you decide is big enough , double it and then some you won't be sorry.

Definitely figure size and then double it like minker says. High enough you can hang a full size deer on skinning system. Even if you have just a hole in ceiling for winch DO IT!!! Lots of work tops and storage space. Room to hang 200 furs minimum even if you only catch 50. Maybe a fan mounted in on corner wall. Pegboard wall at skinning machine and skinning table. Special shelf/table for fleshing knife and skinning knives. Then get, find old carpet for floor you can pitch at end of season. A good push broom and oversize dustpan for cleaning up. A 32 gal trashcan with sawdust for cleaning blood and grease off floor. Chairs, stools for at least 4 people. Hangers for your aprons and coats. Boot rack for waders for at least 2 pairs. bullitin board and clipboard hanging on wall. Windows are optional but nice to have at least one.

You can keep the cold water Stackhouse! The little tankless units make the water plenty warm enough to wash up with and they're down around $100.00 now, well worth it!

If you have running water, don't forget the washing machine! Best thing I ever put in mine.
