I understand completely. I think a lot of people have some trouble identifying certain flaws and qualities in their fur sometimes. I think it is a good idea Mark.

Mark, that's a good idea for certain. I did just that at the Region B spring meet last year. Had quite a variety of skins and from different species and areas. Otter, cats, yotes, coon, etc. Showed finished skins, and talked about different marketing options. It was very well received.

At either the spring or fall meet there is always some fur handling done. From A to Z so to speak. Have taken the skinning machine and set up so people could see one in action. An old dryer that's been turned into a tumbler. Tumbling media, fleshing beam, knives of different types, how to sharpen them, skinning, fleshing and putting up the animal for optimum return. Wire and wood forms. Washing dirty pelts cleaning the grease out. The list is rather extensive. I know it is interesting to people as there is always a crowd for this. I do believe it has helped to do this as I've seen improvements at the Zanesville sale over the last few years.

It is an interesting demo Mark, we did it at a state convention at Coschocton once and a region A meet, and like Nick said, it draws a lot of interest. Working grading in with fur handling works very well too.

Thanks keith. I will help maybe it would be good for a convention with nafa and fur harvesters put up demo. They are the tops at it anyway so lets let them do the grading. If you want me to i can help with talking to nafa and fur harvesters aboutdoing a grading demo.

Thanks mark

I think it would be a small demo each time in order for people to gather around and see better and get there hands on the fur.

Mark,
I'll be down picking up fur for NAFA and would help out as much as I can. I will only be there until about 1 though.

actually the idea i have is probably going to be quite boring for most (it might sound strange now but i hope it is boring for most if not all!). yes i do hope it opens some eyes. it could be a very short demo as well.
